Schedule: This measure is the primary data used for project management. Elapsed time for a phase or phases can be measured ,depending on the company's product development process life-cycle. The Schedule metric is a measure of the organization's ability to provide services and products on time , and to meet commitments concerning schedules. It is recommended that the beginning of the schedule plan to be identified as a date subsequent to the existence and review of the Requirements Specification and prior to the beginning of High-Level Design.
This metric only measures the ability of the development process to implement projects in compliance with the estimated schedule plan. Once this metric is under control, many organizations will want to reduce development time and define additional metrics to help streamline the development process.
High Level Design, Detail Design, Coding , Engineering Test, System Test are the various stages a project can go through. Each of the these stages has a estimated time period known as the planned time period and the actual time period. The web page determines the current status of the project depending on the value of "Schedule". This metric is calculated as the difference between the planned and actual work time to achieve the milestone of first customer delivery divided by the planned work time. The metric is given as a percentage;
a negative number indicates a schedule slip
a positive number indicates the actual date was achieved earlier than plan
a zero indicates that project is on time
